One-fifth of north Dublin teenagers overweight or obese
One in five teenagers in north Dublin are either overweight or obese, according to research commissioned by the Irish Heart Foundation and the Health Service Executive.
More than 1,500 people aged between 15 and 17 took part in the research, which was conducted by Dublin City University.
Just over half of those involved said they did not engage in the minimum recommended level of physical activity, with females exercising less than males.
Dr Catherine Woods, who carried out the study, said intervention was needed to educate young people about the importance of physical activity and good nutrition.
