It has emerged today that the man who shot dead a neighbour in Co Carlow yesterday, and then killed himself, was taking a civil case against the victim over a land dispute.

James Healy, from Garryduff in Co Kilkenny, was shot at three times by Michael Keogh from Coolyhune in Co Carlow.

Post mortems on the bodies are being carried out today in Waterford Regional Hospital by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.

Mr Healy was shot when a row broke out as he was putting up a fence with his brother on a piece of land he had bought recently.

Following the shooting, Mr Keogh returned to his own home and turned the gun on himself.

Gardaí say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
