Experts to attend forensic psychology conference
More than 150 international experts are to attend a Dublin conference on forensic psychology hosted by the Gardaí next week.
Delegates from law enforcement agencies and universities in Ireland, Europe, Canada and the US will take part in the seminar on Investigative Forensic Psychology at Clontarf Castle Hotel.
The event is jointly funded by the European Union AGIS Programme and the Justice, Equality & Law Reform Department.
It will include presentations by experts drawn from Ireland, Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and the USA.
Topics covered will include criminal geographic profiling, computerised behavioural analysis and investigative interviewing.
The use and effectiveness of computer program ViCLAS, which was recently acquired by the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation to analyse serious crime, will also be discussed.
The two-day conference will be officially opened by Assistant Commissioner Martin Callinan, National Support Services on Tuesday.
