PSNI seeks extra resources to tackle sectarian attacks
The local PSNI commander in north Antrim has called for additional resources to help crack down on sectarian attacks against Catholic property in the area.
Dozens of incidents have been reported in the past few weeks, particularly in the mainly Protestant town of Ballymena.
The Ulster Defence Association has been accused of orchestrating the campaign.
Last night, arsonists set fire to a Catholic primary school in Ballymena, while the previous night, five petrol bombs were thrown into another Catholic school in the town.
Superintendent Terry Shevlin, the local PSNI District Commander, said today that extra resources would allow him to place patrols at all vulnerable targets.
