More than €68m was reportedly spent on cleaning Ireland's main public hospitals last year, up by almost €6m on the figure for 2003.

Reports this morning said documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act showed the money was spent in the five main Dublin hospitals and more than 30 former health board hospitals.
