Clare woman's death: Man charged with assault

A 23-year-old local man is due to appear in court in Co Clare today in connection with the death of a young woman in Kilrush on Wednesday night.

The man was charged last night with assault causing serious harm to 23-year-old Kilrush woman Anne Walsh.

Ms Walsh's body was found in the grounds of a church on Toler Street in Kilrush at around 11pm on Wednesday night. She is believed to have been strangled.

The man due in court today was arrested close to the scene a short time after the discovery.
