Bus safety rules may leave pupils stranded

The Vocational Education Association has expressed concern that the Government's move to end "three-for-two" seating on school buses could leave some pupils stranded.

The association said it was concerned that more than 5,000 students could lose their places on school buses because of the changes being introduced next month.

The students in question go to schools that are not within their catchment area or live close to the school building.

At present, they are given "concessionary" seats on a "three-for-two" basis where one is available for them.
