Second arrest made in Sean Brown murder investigation

Police in Britain have made a second arrest in connection with the murder of a GAA official by loyalist paramilitaries in Co Derry eight years ago.

A 39-year-old woman who is originally from the North was detained yesterday morning in the Warwickshire town of Nuneaton.

A 44-year-old man from the North was also arrested in Nuneaton on Wednesday and is still being questioned today about the murder of 61-year-old Sean Brown in 1997.

Mr Brown was shot dead by the Loyalist Volunteer Force after he was abducted while closing up his local GAA club in Bellaghy.

The police are re-investigating the killing following severe criticism of the original RUC investigation from Police Ombudsman Nuala O'Loan.
