Gardaí seek mother of newborn baby found dead in skip

Gardaí in Co Limerick have appealed to the mother of a newborn baby found dead in a skip yesterday morning to come forward in confidence.

The body was found by a worker at a skip-hire yard in Killila, near the village of Broadford.

Reports this morning said the skip where the remains were discovered had arrived at the yard the previous evening from the Rathkeale area.

The reports also said that a post mortem had found no evidence of foul play in the baby's death.

Meanwhile, an infant girl is in the care of the health services this morning after being abandoned at Tara Street DART station in Dublin yesterday afternoon.

This morning's newspapers said gardaí had located the child's family and were preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the case.
