Gardaí keeping an open mind on Monaghan robbery
Gardaí in Monaghan have said that they are keeping an open mind about who was behind last night's armed robbery at a house in Carrickmacross.
The wife of a local businessman, along with another women, and five children aged between 11 years and 18 months, were bundled into a garage by five masked men during the raid.
It is believed that the gang, who escaped across the border in the owner's blue Mercedes van, got away with around €50,000
Inspector Jim Marks, who is leading the investigation, said that the men had Northern or Co Louth accents.
