Minister urged to release asylum powers

Minister for Justice Michael McDowell has been urged to hand over the issue of asylum to an independent body.

The Residents Against Racism group called on the Minister for Justice to create a non-political body to take charge of asylum seekers.

They claimed many asylum-seekers have to go into hiding when they are deported.
