Ombudsman reports fall in complaints against PSNI

The North's Police Ombudsman has reported a slight reduction in the number of complaints made against the PSNI over the past year.

In her latest annual report, Nuala O'Loan said just over 2,800 complaints were made between April 2004 and March 2005, 100 fewer than the previous 12-month period.

Almost half were from people who described themselves as members of the Protestant community, while 37% were from Catholics.

The majority related to allegations of police officers failing to do their duty.
