Man dies after crashing into Donegal wall

A 27-year-old man has died after the car he was driving struck a wall in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, in the early hours of this morning.

The accident happened at Oldtown just before 3.30am.

Meanwhile, gardaí have named the two women who died in a road accident in Castlebar, Co Mayo yesterday evening.

Seventy-seven-year-old Kathleen Fitzpatrick, from Castlerea in Co Roscommon, and 48-year-old Marian Maye, from Kilkelly in Co Mayo, died when their car collided with another vehicle on the N5 near Bellavary shortly after 5pm.

The driver of the second car, a man in his 20s, was also hospitalised with serious injuries.
