The warning comes as Ireland is gripped by a heat-wave that has seen temperatures soar into the high 20s.

The Cancer Society has advised people to protect themselves from the heat by using sunscreen and wearing hats and t-shirts.

It also said infants should be kept in the shade and out of the sun altogether.
