Gardaí and the PSNI are reportedly confident that they have traced more than £5m (€7.2m) of the £26.5m (€38.4m) stolen in the Northern Bank robbery just before Christmas.

Reports this morning said the money had been seized as part of an investigation into a suspected IRA money-laundering operation.

The cash includes several million pounds that was found during garda operations in Cork and Dublin earlier this year.

This morning's reports said senior gardaí were satisfied that the money seized is directly linked to the December 20 robbery.
