Investigation underway into fatal helicopter crash

An investigation is underway into yesterday's helicopter crash in Galway in which two men died.

The driver and a passenger of the aircraft both died at University Hospital Galway, where a third man remains in a critical condition.

Fire personnel had to use special cutting equipment to rescue the men from the helicopter, which crashed into dense forest in Derrybrien shortly after noon.

Officials from the Department of Transport's Air Accident Investigation unit are examining the scene.
