Factory blaze leaves Limerick jobs in doubt

Fire has destroyed a factory in Newcastle-West, Co Limerick, leaving around 100 jobs under threat.

Nine units of the fire brigade were called out to the blaze at the Myson Scanglo Heating Controls at around 5.30am today.

The roof of the building has collapsed and there are concerns about the stability of the walls. It is believed the fire began on the factory floor but the cause is not yet known.

A technical examination will take place later.
