Veteran journalist Mark Costigan is to be appointed Deputy Government Press Secretary and the Head of Government Information Services, it emerged tonight.

The 50-year-old will move from his post as political editor of the country’s national independent broadcaster, Today FM, to join the mandarins at Leinster House.
