Lives could be lost if parade goes ahead - Adams
Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams has said he won't be putting any pressure on former republican prisoners to steward next Tuesday's contentious Orange parade in Ardoyne.
Mr Adams said after the re-arrest of Sean Kelly, who had been involved in keeping the peace at last year's parade, he could understand if republicans were reluctant to prevent violence.
He said the area was a tinderbox and lives could be lost if the parade went ahead.
“We uphold because of our wish to be generous, their right to march,” he said. “We say to them simply that its good manners and good neighbourliness to go and talk to those people who have problems with your marches to explain to them, to reach some accommodation.”
