Bertie Ahern defended Ireland's record on overseas aid today, ahead of tomorrow’s G8 summit in Scotland.

Bertie Ahern defended Ireland's record on overseas aid today, ahead of tomorrow’s G8 summit in Scotland.

The Taoiseach said most Irish people would be surprised to discover the Government was pledging €565m this year to developing countries.

Mr Ahern held talks in Dublin with the Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, one of the leaders gathering at Gleneagles.
