Campaign highlights cocaine dangers
A provocative poster campaign to highlight the dangers and consequences of cocaine use has been launched today as part of the ongoing National Drugs Awareness Campaign.
According to the National Advisory Committee on Drugs about 5% of young people aged 15-34 say they have used cocaine compared to an equivalent figure of almost 1% for heroin.
The campaign will feature posters placed in the restrooms of 70 of the largest entertainment venues, such as pubs and clubs, throughout Ireland, as well as beer mats and print advertisements in newspapers and magazines.
The Drugs Awareness Campaign, now in its third year, is managed by the Health Promotion Unit of the Department of Health & Children, as part of the National Drugs Strategy.
