Hain begins US visit
Northern Ireland Secretary Peter Hain has started a four-day visit to the US today aimed at informing Irish Americans on efforts being made to revive the peace process.
The tour starts in New York. Tomorrow Mr Hain be meet politicians in Washington as part of his first visit to the US as Northern Secretary.
The visit comes on the back of huge criticism from Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams of Mr Hain's decision to send republican Sean Kelly back to jail.
Mr Adams stated: “Peter Hain's decision to incarcerate Sean Kelly was one of the stupidest decisions that has been taken in some long time."
