The Criminal Assets Bureau collected almost €16.5m in unpaid taxes and interest last year, an increase of around two-thirds on the previous year.

Reports this morning said the sums of money being collected by the agency were expected to increase further this year as many of the first confiscation orders granted to CAB in the late 1990s begin to expire.
