Crumlin Children's Hospital has confirmed that 20 cases of a potentially fatal virus have been detected in its cancer ward.

The hospital said three of the cases were serious, but the affected children were being treated with the appropriate medecines.

The VEC virus is not dangerous to healthy people, but can be life-threatening for sick people, especially children and the elderly.
