Three held in Limerick shooting probe
Three teenagers are being quizzed by gardaí in Limerick in connection with a recent shooting incident at a housing estate which left three people injured.
The youths were arrested shortly after 8am this morning and they are being questioned about a shooting incident in the Moyross area of the city earlier this month.
On June 11 three young men were injured when three masked youths armed with at least two shot guns shot at a group of up to 15 people standing in the front garden of a house in Craeval Park in Moyross.
The gunmen fired up to four rounds hitting three men in their arms legs and bodies. The injured men aged 18, 21 and 30, were removed to hospital where they were treated for their injuries which were not life-threatening.
Gardaí were questioning the three teenagers arrested today at Mayorstone Garda Station in Limerick.
They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act which enables them to be detained for up to seven days.
Meanwhile, gardaí are still investigating three other shootings which also took place in the Craeval Park area of Moyross in the past two weeks.
Last Sunday morning a man in his 30's suffered pellet wounds when he was shot shortly before 3am.
It's feared the recent gun attacks in the Craeval Park area are linked to a localised dispute in the area which appears to have escalated in recent weeks.
It's understood the dispute has its origins in an incident where a Moyross man was targeted in a gun attack last month. These gun attacks however are not linked to the much publicised Limerick gangland feud which has claimed four lives in as many years.
