Fire destroys pub and apartments

A fire at a Dublin pub spread to an apartment complex this morning, leaving 11 people homeless.

The blaze at the Horse and Jockey on Emmet Road in Inchicore spread to apartments overhead, which were home to eight adults and three children.

Five units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene at around 2am. It took an hour to bring the fire under control.

Three adults are being treated in St James' Hospital for smoke inhalation.

The building has been gutted and a technical examination is to be carried out to discover the cause of the fire.
