Group calls for reform of immigrant policy
The system to deal with asylum seekers is being described as ad hoc and unfair by the Residents Against Racism group who have called for reform of immigrant policy.
The Group is holding a protest in Dublin today against what it calls the "racist policies" of the Government.
Spokeswoman Rosanna Flynn says recent remarks by the Justice Minister Michael McDowell were offensive and insulting to non-nationals here.
āThe treatment of migrant workers and asylum seekers here is going from bad to worse,ā she said.
āThe Minister for Justice has made some shocking statements about asylum seekers having ācock-and-bullā stories, talking about ābogusā asylum seekers,ā said Ms Flynn.
She said that as far as her organisation is concerned Mr McDowell is a āBogus Minister for Justiceā.
