5,000 DVDs seized in undercover counterfeit operation

A 29-year-old man and two juveniles are in garda custody today following what detectives believe to be one of the most sophisticated DVD counterfeiting operations ever uncovered in the State.

The garda raid in Duleek, Co Meath was mounted as part of Operation Anvil - the recent crackdown on the activities of criminal gangs.

Gardaí seized 5,000 DVDs, which included many recently-released movies, as well as computer equipment and printers valued at more than €300,000.

Four vehicles were also seized in the operation.

All three, who were arrested last night, are being held at Blanchardstown garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

They can be held for up to 12 hours without charge.
