Surveyors seek cost managers on State-funded schemes

The Society of Chartered Surveyors (SCS) has called for independent cost managers to be appointed on all State-funded infrastructural projects.

The society said a study it conducted found that cost over-runs on such projects were reaching up to 100%, while over-runs on State-funded building projects were being kept as low as 4%.

It said it believed the differential was caused by the fact that independent cost managers provided by the SCS were employed on building projects, but not on infrastructural schemes.
