Permission denied for development near ancient round tower
An Bord Pleanála has denied planning permission for a development at one of Ireland's oldest round towers in the Clondalkin area of west Dublin.
Businessmen had sought permission for a bar, a restaurant and an apartment complex on a half-acre site close to the 8th Century tower.
However, the planning appeals body said the development would not be in sympathy with the ancient round tower, a site of national importance.
