Govt announces €1m funding to encourage women into science

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheal Martin has announced €1m in funding to encourage more women to study science and remain in the sector.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheal Martin has announced €1m in funding to encourage more women to study science and remain in the sector.

Mr Martin said the money was designed to offset a situation where significant numbers of women were leaving science careers to raise families.

He said the €1m was being given to Science Foundation Ireland to develop three programmes to increase the number of women participating in science.
