Young man gunned down in Dublin

A man was shot dead today as he left an apartment block in west Dublin, gardaí have confirmed.

Officers are investigating after the man, who is aged between 20 and 30, was shot outside Hayworth Apartments, near Ongar Park, on a back road between Clonee and Lucan in west Dublin.

A garda spokeswoman said: “He was shot and fatally injured. We think he was leaving the apartments at the time, possibly to go to work.”

The incident happened shortly before 10am today. It is believed the man may have been shot twice.

The body has been left at the scene pending the arrival of a forensic team to examine the area later today.
