Cash reward offered in canal murder investigation

Crimestoppers is offering a €10,000 cash reward to anyone who can help gardaí identify the man, or the killers of the man, whose dismembered body was found in Dublin’s Royal Canal last week.

Body parts from a man, believed to be an immigrant from Africa, were recovered in the water near Ballybough Bridge but gardaí are still looking for his head.

Just over a week ago after the discovery was made, gardaí investigating the murder are stepping up their appeal for information with the distribution of leaflets.

A post-mortem examination concluded the victim had been stabbed to death, and it is believed it was part of a ritual killing.

The victim is a black man, possibly African, aged between 20 and 40 years and 6 feet in height.

His remains may have been in the water for anything between one and two weeks.

A long-sleeved, white-coloured, Ireland soccer jersey was found with the torso.
