Ahern and McAleese fly out for funeral

A delegation to Pope John Paul II’s funeral headed by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and President Mary McAleese today left for Rome.

President McAleese, and her husband Dr Martin McAleese, joined Mr Ahern and Tánaiste Mary Harney as representatives of the Government alongside Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny.
