Hundreds attend Dublin memorial Mass for Pope John Paul

Hundreds of people queued from early afternoon yesterday to attend a memorial Mass for Pope John Paul II at Dublin's Pro-Cathedral.

The Mass was attended by President Mary McAleese and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, as well as several other senior politicians.

Members of the public began queuing hours before the service began and many were forced to listen from the street as the church was full to capacity.

Speaking at the Mass, Archbishop of Dublin Dr Diarmuid Martin called on all sides in the peace process to move forward as a tribute to the Pope.
