Murder hunt begins after pub shooting

Gardaí are investigating after a man was shot dead while drinking in a bar in Dublin city.

Gardaí are investigating after a man was shot dead while drinking in a bar in Dublin city.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, had been socialising in the Green Lizard pub on the south side when he was shot at point-blank range.

The shooting took place at around 10.15pm last night when the attacker, armed with a handgun, singled the man out from other pubgoers and shot him in the head.

The gunman, who had been in the bar for some time, fled from the Frances Street area on foot.

The victim was taken to James’s Street Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardaí at Kevin Street station have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 01 666 9400.
