Lorries destroyed in suspected arson attack

Two lorries have been destroyed in a suspected arson attack at a garage in Co Antrim, police said today.

Detectives said a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning and caused substantial damage at the premises on the Sanda Road in the Newtownabbey area.

Police said two lorries were ruined and another two suffered minor damage.

The alarm was raised at around 6am. Detectives in the North have appealed for anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers on 1800 555111.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, clothes were damaged after a minor fire broke out in a shop in Portadown.

The cause of the fire at the store on West Street has not been established, but police have said they do not believe it was caused by an incendiary device.
