Second woman dies after three-car smash
A second woman died today after a three-car collision in County Donegal.
The accident happened at Bankhead, Redcastle on the main Derry to Moville road at 3.45am.
One woman, aged 22, died when the car she was travelling in collided with two other cars. Another 21-year old female passenger in the same car was seriously injured and died shortly afterwards in hospital.
Five other injured people were taken to Letterkenny Hospital in Donegal and Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
Gardai have not yet released the names of the young women killed in the accident.
Meanwhile, a six-year-old boy was killed in Co Carlow yesterday when he was struck by a car at 4.20pm.
Gardai are investigating the incident, which took place at Ballybar, about five miles from Carlow town.
This brings the number of people killed on the roads this year to 87.
