Braun planning to lay off 42 in Carlow
The electrical goods manufacture Braun is planning to lay off 42 workers at its plant in Carlow.
The job losses had been expected following the recent takeover of the company by the multinational conglomerate Proctor and Gamble.
Braun had already laid off hundreds of workers at the factory over the past two-and-a-half years, including around 30 who took voluntary redundancy earlier this year.
Today's news is a further blow for Carlow, which has lost 220 full-time and seasonal jobs due to the closure of its sugar factory today and another 89 jobs due to the closure of the Celtic Linen facility in the town.
