Gardaí exhume Rachel O'Reilly body
Gardaí today exhumed the body of Rachel O’Reilly as part of their ongoing murder investigation.
Garda forensic experts moved into Balgriffin cemetery in Fingal, Dublin, at 6.30am after obtaining the exhumation order under the Coroners Act.
A Garda spokesman said the forensic examination had been completed at 8.30am and that all officers had left the scene.
Ms O’Reilly, who lived in Naul, north Dublin, was last seen alive at around 9.30am on October 4 last year when she left her two young children at the nearby national and Montessori schools.
Her body was found later that day by her mother in the bedroom of her home, after she failed to to collect one of her two children.
A post-mortem by State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy found that she died after she was beaten on the head with a blunt instrument.
