Man pleads not guilty to Clonmel murder

A 23-year-old Tipperary man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 21-year-old man in late 2002.

A 23-year-old Tipperary man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 21-year-old man in late 2002.

Gabriel Burns of Cooleen’s Close in Clonmel was before the Central Criminal Court today charged with murdering Jamie Lonergan.

Mr Lonergan died at Kelly’s Field, Gortmalogue, Clonmel on November 1, 2002.

A jury of five women and seven men has been sworn in to hear the case, which gets underway today before Mr Justice Paul Carney.
