HSE to make fresh effort to shut Dublin nursing home
The Health Service Executive is due to make a fresh effort to close down a controversial Dublin nursing home in the local District Court today.
The HSE’s predecessor, the South Western Health Board, took a High Court case last August in an effort to shut down Rostrevor, but the presiding judge said he had no power to order the closure of a registered home.
He did say however, that the health board had the right to take a to Dublin District Court seeking to remove the nursing home from its register.
In its case last August, the board had claimed that it had seen an incontinent patient with bedsores contaminated with faeces during an inspection at Rostrevor.
It also said dangerous drugs were left in open boxes on top of trolleys, but the home’s owner, Teresa Lipsett, said the claims were outdated and many of the health board’s concerns had been addressed.
Ms Lipsett also said her patients were happy and none had asked to be moved.
