Illegal dumps discovered in Meath

Meath County Council is investigating two large illegal dumps discovered in recent days in the north and east of the county.

The council said the dumps near Drumconrath and Duleek contained at least 20,000 tonnes of municipal, construction and demolition waste.

It also said it believed the facilities had only been in operation for a number of months. Tests are being conducted to establish whether there is any pollution threat.
