Govt failing to regulate adventure centres, says father

The father of a teenager who died in a canoeing tragedy 10 years ago has slammed what he called the Government's failure to introduce promised legislation aimed at saving lives at sea.

The Government vowed to introduced legislation regulating adventure centres after 14-year-old Ros Davies and another person died in the canoeing tragedy off the coast of Dumore East in Waterford on February 18, 2005.

However, the legislation has yet to be signed into law, despite already being passed by the Dáil.

The teenager's father, Michael Davies, has mounted a protest outside the Department of the Marine today to highlight the situation.
