Two hurt in stolen car crash

Two people were in hospital today in Belfast with serious injuries after a stolen car which was being tracked by police crashed into a van.

Investigators from Northern Ireland’s Police Ombudsman were investigating the incident which occurred on the Westlink, which connects the M1 and M2 motorways.

The stolen car was travelling the wrong way when it collided with the van.

Police were today examining the two vehicles at the M2 end of the Westlink and were expecting traffic delays.

A spokesman for the ombudsman’s office confirmed: “Officers are at the scene looking at the circumstances around the accident.”
