Brennan advocates new 'family friendly' welfare approach

A family friendly social welfare system is needed to encourage single parents to join the workforce or take up education, it was claimed today.

Seamus Brennan, Social and Family Affairs Minister, said 50% of the country’s single mothers had not attended secondary school while others were held back by a lack of childcare facilities.
