Lawlor to be denied €2.5m windfall from Adamstown project

Former Fianna Fáil TD Liam Lawlor has reportedly lost out on a possible €2.5m windfall from the Adamstown development in west Co Dublin.

Mr Lawlor had claimed that he would make a significant amount of money from the construction of a new town in the area because he part-owned the adjacent underground sewage and drainage system.

However, reports this morning said the Adamstown developers had rejected the disgraced former TD's claims that they would have to use his infrastructure.

Yesterday, the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, turned the first sod on the €2bn development, which is located on a 500-acre site beside Mr Lawlor's Lucan home.

An entire new town including schools, community buildings, leisure facilities and a railway station are being constructed on the site. The town will eventually have a population of 20,000.
