Govt 'failed to properly assess cost of electronic voting'

The Comptroller and Auditor General has told the Dáil public accounts committee that the Government failed to properly assess the cost of introducing electronic voting.

The Government has already spent €52m introducing the system, which was shelved last year due to concerns about security, accuracy and electoral fraud.
