A Fianna Fáil candidate blamed a “media witchunt” on his family for pulling out of the forthcoming Meath by-election, it emerged tonight.

Cllr Tommy Reilly, who was selected by the party before Christmas, informed party HQ officials this morning that he was withdrawing from the race.
