Heroin trial continues in absence of jury

The trial of a Cork man arising out of the discovery by customs and excise officials of heroin valued at almost €1m has continued in legal argument in the absence of the jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Mr Michael O’Sullivan (aged 51) with addresses at Courtown Drive, Knocknaheeny, Cork, and Model Farm Road, Cork, denies that on April 1, 2003, he attempted to unlawfully posses heroin for purpose of sale or supply.

The jury has heard the heroin was found concealed in the base of a wall unit in a container with second-hand furniture that arrived at Dublin Port in March 2003.

The hearing continues before Judge Frank O’Donnell.
